Did you know that the first McDonald’s was actually an orange juice stand? And, despite Ray Kroc’s claim that he built the first restaurant in Des Plaines in 1955, it’s simply not true! Join us as Jenny Riddle brings to life Lisa Napoli’s best-seller about the man who made the McDonald’s fortune and the woman who gave it all away. What were this power couple like as people? You’ll meet Ray the philanthropist who, on the advice of his PR team, donated huge sums of money to medical research. Then, after Ray’s death, Joan gave away even larger sums (usually anonymously) to causes such as the anti-nuclear proliferation movement, the treatment of alcoholism and AIDS, and the establishment of hospice centers across the country.

Following the event, information about Chestnut Square’s beautiful senior living community will be available and light refreshments will be served. Seating is limited. Please RSVP at (847) 998-1118. Complimentary valet parking.
